Defacto Retail is one of the largest companies in Turkish ready to wear industry. Serdar Ersoy has achieved to open more than 400 stores in 16 countries. Along with Defacto’s homeland, Turkey, these countries are mainly based on CIS, Balkans, and MENA regions.

Serdar started his career in Arçelik, the market leader company of durable consumer goods in Turkey, sister company of Beko. After spending some time at Arçelik, he decided to pursue a career in fashion retail due to his passion for fashion.

Serdar held various senior positions at leading companies in his 20 years of career. Currently, he has been working for Defacto Retail, which has more than 10,000 employees and 850 million USD revenue, for 13 years. During these years he has managed more than 400 corner and department store openings. Defacto has reached 500,000 sqm of retail space, entering 16 foreign markets. And recently, he has led Defacto’s acquisition of C&A’s Turkey branch, merging its 16 stores and 25,000 sqm of retail space with Defacto.

At Defacto, he manages business development department, international wholesales department, expansion department, and project-decoration department. He is also responsible for expansion budget, return on investment and feasibility of expansion in Turkey and abroad. He manages a team that is responsible for new market entries, market analyses, country SWOT and PEST analyses for new expansion destinations as well.

Being in the market for 20 years and involving the every step of new investment has given Serdar to be able to see the macro picture of investment with an ability to think global and act local.
